About Div08 Consulting

Div08 Consulting is an independent door hardware consultancy. We write door hardware specifications for architects, build door and hardware schedules, and review Division 08 submittals for contractors, so the doors, frames and hardware on a project are right before anything is ordered.

The name comes from Division 08 of the CSI MasterFormat, the division that covers openings. We work on one part of it: doors, frames and door hardware. We do not cover glass, glazing or windows.

Who does the work

The technical work is done by a working commercial door and hardware specialist, someone who specifies, details and troubleshoots openings for a living. That is the point of the business: the person writing your hardware sets knows how the hardware goes on the door.

Div08 Consulting is owned by John Voll, who handles quotes, scheduling and client questions.

Independent

We do not sell hardware, doors or frames, and we are not paid by manufacturers. Our fee is the only money we make on a project, so the specification and the review are written for the project.

Remote, nationwide

Everything we do works from drawings, specifications and submittals, so we serve projects anywhere in the United States. We are based in Austin, Texas.
